He started snowboarding at the age of 4 and made his competitive debut at the age of 8.
He emerged as a hot young athlete from his junior years and won the big air event at the 2021 Junior World Championships. He also won the first Japanese gold medal in the big air event at the 2023 World Championships. At the same year's Junior World Championships, he won both the big air and slopestyle events, proving his ability on the international stage.
He won the X Games Big Air event in 2024 with a dominating performance, and has shown consistent strength as the overall World Cup Champion (Big Air) and overall champion in 2025.
Hasegawa's most notable achievement is that in September 2023, he became the first person in the world to successfully complete five and a half turns in all four directions (backside, frontside, cab, and switched backside), a feat that sent shock waves through the snowboarding world.
He is the new leader of Japan's young team and is very determined to "go for the gold medal if I am going to compete" at the 2026 Cortina Olympics in Milan.
